Wildcat
Council for Musical Excellence
We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to
enhancing the music program at The Academy!
We meet on the Second Monday of every month in the
band room of The Academy.
How have we offered support?
Tri-M Music Honor Society |
We are currently providing financial support for two chapters of the Tri-M Music Honor Society for outstanding students at The Academy. Tri-M, which stands for Modern Music Masters, is a service based organization governed by the Music Educators National Conference and is recognized internationally on the same level as National Honor Society. Our Senior Chapter, #5284, is open to students in
grades 9-12. The Junior Chapter,
#5292, is open to students in grades 7-8.
The Wildcat Council for Musical
Excellence provides the annual $100 charter renewal fee for both
chapters. |

Instrument
Purchases |
We purchased four new violins for the elementary orchestra in August of 2007. These instruments will be made available to students whose families could not afford for them to participate in orchestra otherwise. |
Nationally
Recognized Music Awards |
We support the annual purchase of nationally recognized music awards for the most outstanding music students at The Academy. Each of these may only be awarded to one student from each school per year, and they are usually awarded to seniors that have demonstrated leadership and outstanding service to the school music program through their time in it. We provide the following awards: |
The John Phillip Sousa Award for Band |
The Louis Armstrong Award for Jazz Band |
The National Choral Award for School Choir |
We will also support the Director’s Award for Orchestra when The Academy’s orchestra students become upperclassmen! |
Music Banquet |
Last year we provided financial support for a very successful Music Banquet and Awards Night for all of the secondary music students of The Academy. We hope to make that an annual event, and would love to have your help! |

Future
Instrument Purchases |
We hope to purchase more instruments for the school in the future so that more students can play! |

Please join us in providing these services to The Academy’s music students! Members may vote at all meetings of the Wildcat Council of Musical Excellence, and can also apply for positions on the board of directors. Would you like to see new opportunities offered to our students? Then get involved! Call Mr. Kemp at 303-289-8088, ext. 122 to find out more, or just come to our next meeting! |
We will be selling a 2009-2010 School Calendar featuring Mr. Kemp’s landscape photography until mid-October 2009. The calendars come pre-printed with important school dates as well as all of the music booster meeting dates and concert dates. They are available for a donation to WCME of $25.00. Please contact Mr. Kemp if you would like one. You can preview examples of Mr. Kemp’s photography at: www.flickr.com/photos/kempscamera |

We have also been selling bottled water and renting stadium-style seat cushions at every concert! We view this as both a service and a way to raise money for the music department! |
We also sell yummy desserts at select concerts through the year. A piece of pie during intermission is the perfect addition to an outstanding evening of music! |
